Each day she put on the mask of a smile
To hide the pain she bears
But if you look deeper
Her dark eyes reflect a bruised soul
Her pain is well disguised
Hope has all but disappeared
As she picks up the razor blade she reasons
Perhaps an outward cut will relieve the inner pain
Somehow a visible scar generates more compassion
Than the emotional wounds within
With each cut her inward pain is given a voice
If only someone will listen to her cry
